Being the son of a Diplomat in the Foreign Service- R Khubchand- also known as "Mony"- started travelling around extensively from the age of 5 and then after schooling here, went back to Europe- for further studies However, the desire to come home was strong and he returned to India in the seventies- just at the time the country was going through a lot of challenges. After serving in different organizations- but wanting to implement the work culture he was used to, decided to do something on his own He started INDUS VALLEY- in 1983- a Buying Office for Exports with his late wife Monica & followed this up with Greenfields in 1996 - his son Rahul and daughter Raleena being active partners. In this course of over 35 years- are now representing Companies in six continents for their purchase of giftware/furniture/home textiles/fashion accessories/garments amongst others from here - see www.indusvalley-world.com. For his outstanding contribution to the promotion of Handicrafts exports, Mony was awarded the Life- time Achievement Award- by the Government of India Monica, meanwhile, in her own setup Chrysalis moved into Spiritualism, Art of Living, meditation, healing as well many other charitable/good causes and used the apartment for teaching too So, after she passed away in 2004 and we decided to use her place as a Bed & Breakfast - what better name to go in for than "BnB Chrysalis". The project which started in 2008 looks to bring together people from different parts of the world - whether on work or pleasure - wanting to stay in a clean/comfortable/homely/safe/affordable place when in Delhi.
